What you need to know...

So many times we tell ourselves "I'll start tomorrow." Whether it's with diet, exercise or stopping a bad habit. Don't wait for tomorrow. START TODAY!
This little book teaches you simple tools to use that will basically guarantee your success! What I love most about these techniques is that I've tried them and THEY WORK! 
First, you'll learn how to create SMART goals. SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-Bound. The most important aspect about a SMART goal is to make sure you set a time to complete your task.
Example of what not to do:
"I will walk today."
Example of a SMART goal:
"I will walk for 10 minutes on the treadmill at 6 PM"
Our SMART goal example increases the likelihood of our success substantially! We know this to be true because we have all said, "I'll do such and such today," and before we know it the day is over and we did not accomplish our goal. When we are detailed in what we want to accomplish and specific with the time in which we WILL complete the task -
​ WE ACCOMPLISH OUR GOAL!

It's that simple

The other technique that I absolutely love in this book is attributed to Jerry Seinfeld. I actually may be in the minority of people that have not watched a single, full episode of Seinfeld, but lucky for me you don't have to be a fan in order for this strategy to work. 

The Seinfeld Strategy

The idea goes something like this... choose a goal. The example below is
​"I will complete 10 push-ups at 8 AM every morning." For each day you complete that activity place an "X" on the calendar. When you have several in a row you will start to see a chain. Don't let your chain break! If it does break, don't get discouraged, instead immediately start again and this time challenge yourself to make your chain longer than the last! Progress not perfection. Inevitably, I get asked, "What if I complete my 10 push-ups, but it's not at 8 AM?" If you complete it that day, cross it off. Remember, the time stamp is to help you get in the habit of creating SMART goals and in an ideal world you would do it exactly when you say you will, but things happen. Whether you do it at 8 AM or 8 PM the most important thing is that you've done it! 

Pro Tip:

Start with a goal so unbelievably small there is absolutely no way you will talk yourself out of it! Many times we tell ourselves, "I don't have an hour to workout, so I'm not going to workout at all." Get rid of those self-destructing thoughts and instead focus on consistency. Consistently do what you say you are going to do! This book begins with a list of small and larger goals to help you get started. Choose your comfort level and START TODAY!
