Good Morning Friends! Today we will continue part two of our five week series: Surrendering Our Health. If you are joining us for the first time, welcome! Make sure to go take a peek at last week's post about physical health healing. Our focus for today's session will be healing our minds through the power of prayer. While mental health is discussed much more frequently these days, it is still a tricky topic. When someone is struggling with their mental health it is often times difficult for those around them to understand. It's not like a physical health problem. If you have broken your arm, we can see the cast. We immediately comprehend that you are likely going to need some assistance and we are obviously not going to volunteer you to demonstrate a ring row in our cross fit class. (If you're now asking yourself "What is a ring row?"- you can find it here) Lol But how do we know when someone's mind is hurting? Unless they share their struggles - we may never know. Sure, they may appear down or their temper may flare, but do we truly understand until we take the time to listen? And at times, hear words that are not being said. I think we can all agree that the person experiencing symptoms is suffering and the person attempting to understand is facing a challenge. Thankfully, we serve a God that is always listening! And better yet, he hears our hearts, even when we don't know the words to speak. Let's Pray Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the gift of our mental health. Help us discern what we allow to enter our minds. Let us be mindful of what we listen to, what we watch, what we read, the kinds of conversations we engage in, etc. It all matters. It all shapes the way we think and impacts our wellbeing. Please remove anything that is not pleasing to you, Lord. Mold us. Make us more like you. In 2 Timothy we hear the phrase "sound mind." Yes, Jesus, we pray for a sound mind, a rational mind, a mind that thinks sensible thoughts, oh Lord. If anyone reading this today is struggling with mental health concerns - God we lift them up to you right now. We ask that you heal their mind. That you give them a peace that can only come from you! We pray against depression. We pray against anxiety. We pray against paranoia. We pray against anger. We declare that those struggles no longer have ANY authority over our minds! Lord, fill us with the fruits of your spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control! It is in YOUR MIGHTY NAME we humbly ask these things! Amen He is near to the broken hearted. Whatever your struggle today - Depression, anxiety, stress - Give it to the Lord. Ask him to heal your mind! There is power in prayer. Jesus said, "Where two or three gather in my name, I am with them." Believe him! Submit a prayer request and let us pray with you today! Until Next Time, Your Praying Friend
