This title isn't some type of overpromising hyperbole.
Change one word and it really will change your life!
At Your Praying Friend we talk often about changing our thoughts, cultivating gratitude and the positive impact it has on our behaviors.
Today's message is definitely in line with our typical theme.
However, it's so life changing that I can't believe we haven't shared it with you sooner!
Next time you find yourself frustrated, unmotivated, or the like try this:
Change I HAVE to - to I GET to.
We could go on and on, but you get the picture.
My favorite part about this simple word replacement is that it really works!
When the alarm is going off at 5 AM because you have to workout and eat a healthy breakfast, before you get the kids off to school and head to work - There are a lot of overwhelming obligations in that sentence, but when we change them to grateful "get-to's" it makes all the difference in the world.
Now I don't have to wake up at 5 AM, instead I'm grateful that I get to wake up, because we all know some people won't.
Instead of I have to work out and eat healthy, now I'm grateful that I have a body that allows me to exercise and readily available nutritional food options.
And most importantly, instead of having to drive the kids to school, before I have to go to work...
Well, now how grateful am I that I have children that they are getting an education and I have a job to support my family?
Don't believe us? We love a healthy level of skepticism.
So put us to the test.
Next time you're feeling especially weighed down by your to-do list, change I have to to I get to and watch your mood change!
It is impossible to feel sorry for yourself, while you are gratefully counting your blessings.
